Since the HDTV switchover was imminent, (well, last week it was but this week it has been pushed. Whats with that anyway?) I had been saving my money to purchase a new television. Last weekend while at Target, there was actually a pretty good deal. I had a coupon as well so I took the plunge.
Much to my surprise, after setting up the new t.v., I discovered that there are hidden channels in HD!! One of which is called "Qubo" which is 24/7 childrens shows. Normally I would just skip over this channel, but during my first pass, what was on?? Lamb Chops Play Along!!
So out of curiosity and for the sake of Nostalgia, I stopped and watched for a minute. It's amazing what profound truths can come from classic childrens television. Lamb Chop was having a conversation with her friends Charlie Horse and Hush Puppy, and what does she say??
L: Well Charlie Horse, your life isn't necessarily always your own.
C: It's not?
L: No, it affects everyone elses too!
Today in church we talked about being a more tight knit community. (and forgive me if I mis quote) but the teacher had a quote from Joseph Smith stating that our lives are not necessarily our own. That they are directly linked to the glory of the Father.
Of course when you hear the same thing more than once from different sources within a day of each other, you should take notice.
I have taken notice. I am committed to having a kinder heart, to helping people more, and to look outside of myself more. I think often we get weighed down with the heaviness of our trials and personal struggles-- forgetting that our neighbor may be going through something even more difficult, or more trying... and many of us have the power to simply reach out our hand and help them up. Its so simple, yet we often forget.
Thanks to Mary and Lamb Chop for bringing me to this realization. I am grateful!

What insight. M loves Qubo. I'm not sure I totally love Digital TV. Sometimes it seems the TV shows are a bad DVD, because it skips. Does your new TV ever do that?
My little guy loves cartoons. I hate that my ten year old television is no longer going to work. Maybe I will cave and buy one of those lame-o adapters. Then my son can experience the joy that is Lambchop!
